Recruiting Vol. I: B.J. McLaughlin

Post Dispatch story

Hazelwood Central's BJ McLaughin has an offer from SIUE, and it appears it is his only Division I offer. He isn't signing anytime soon, and by the verbage used in this Post Dispatch story he is holding out until after the AAU season to try and get offers from high majors.

The success B.J. has had in basketball has already helped him garner some attention from college coaches. In fact, Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville has offered him a scholarship. He plans to play AAU ball this summer for Terell Ramey's team. He hopes that leads to him getting some offers from some bigger Division I schools.

HCHS is the no. 3 large school in St. Louis at 25-2, and the junior McLaughlin averages 6.8 rebounds and 10.5 points per game. He is not a good free throw shooter, and is primarilly an inside player at 6"5. He is just 1-8 from three-point range, so I am unsure how effective he would be at SIUE. Still, he would probably be a decent catch.
