Let's go on an eCougarzone.com field trip...to CANCUN!

This year is over, and we will have more on the site about that very thing later in the week. For now, one little schedule-related tidbit to share.

The Cougars are playing in next season's Cancun Challenge! Viva Los Mexico!

The tournament is set up just like the one we won in Vegas this season, and features two preliminary games which will take place in early November at Illinois and Illinois State.

SIUE then goes to Cancun for bracket play in the "Mayan Division" with Sacred Heart, Lipscomb and Hampton. Great tournament for the Cougars. Very winnable games in a familiar format.

Last night, the year wrapped up with an 84-55 win over Hannibal LaGrange. Cornelius Chatt said after the game it's "going to be like LeBron and D-Wayde" between him and Mark Yelovich when he is back in action.

We'll have to see about that.

Lennox also said Bradley will be on the schedule, and we know we have Cal State Fullerton returning their bracketbuster from 2009-2010, and Ball State is coming in.

Other than that, the non-conference schedule is just about completed, since SIUE is playing its first full OVC season next year with 16 conference games.

More to come later.

Just of note....Anthony Mitchell forgoed his final season of eligibility siting knee pain and problems...I grant you that he probably did have pain but why stick around when u can graduate and move on from a losing program.....That isnt a dig but that is what SIUe is, a losing program. I think we probably will never be a winner unless we get the stars from the area to stay or we start getting transfers to come in and play....and by transfers I mean Division I transfers not JUCO.....just never will be unfortunately

Exactly, I had that about Anthony as well. He had problems with his knee, and he came to SIUE because Forrester promised him he would graduate. He graduated, so his time here is done. Sad to see it didn't work out as well as it could have with Anthony, the injuries were just too much.
