This from the bad news department...and obviously not good for the 2010-2011 Cougars. Straight from the SIUE police media log. We will have to see what happens, but this is not what we wanted to hear. The junior guard is a JUCO transfer from Wabash Valley and figured to make his case for the starting lineup this season. - Allan

Thanks for pointing that out to me guys, so it looks like things might turn out okay...the guys really need to watch themselves though. The Cougars are quickly earning themselves a negative reputation and it shouldn't be tolerated. Hopefully this was all a "misunderstanding" and I will try and find out if there is any more to this. Definitely something to ask about when we start to preview the season in the next two weeks or so. It's sneaking up on us.

oh shit son......wooohhoooooo.....seriously?
alex let allan know brother so that we can squash this sounds like he probably shouldnt get kicked off the team maybe suspended but not kicked off the team
all this after the slu debacle...i know this is siue basketball but gentleman what do you think about the slu issue.....i think it is bogus I am all for discipline but they didnt get sep trials......they were kicked out of school for one semester I know dudes who did worse than have drunken sex at school (drug dealing other stupid crap) and there were no suspensions....i am going to leave how i really feel (ok ill just say look at the bball players and probably who the girl was who they had sex with) anyways what is going here is craziness
This guy is supposed to be legit at basketball. Im glad they didn't press charges. As long as the players from my school don't get in trouble thats fine with me. lol I think he dodged a bullet. I don't know if we will ever find out what really happened. Aggravated battery carries a 60 days mandatory jail and up to 25,000 in fines. If i were Forester I would turn my head to this and act like it never happened. We need a winning B-ball team, not a law abiding squad. lol Having both would be great, but sport teams have problems with the police. Its just crazy. Lets just get this damn season going. I can't hear about stuff like this anymore. First its Alex Brown from Herrin and then its Chatt. Damn. On another note, what makes the state attorney's office decline charges? Was this blown out of proportion? Was the claims truthful? This seems a little fishy?
I am no lawyer but I did study law a little bit and most likely a declination of charges stems from not enough evidence or a lack of cooperation from the victim.....I dont want to try to speculate but since this was a supposed domestic battery charge cornelius probably is a baby daddy and had a fight with the mother....most likely some yelling and grabbing were going on (which technically is abuse)......she probably either dropped the charges or declined to participate in the investigation (explains his lengthy stay in jail)no evidence means no charges.......ok done with speculation now what should be done...the problem is this happened on campus property.....probably will be subject to campus policy unless this really was blown way out of proportion and they really cant find anything to charge him with......forrester is one tough dude so I dont know what he will do but I def could see some discipline handed down....I would love to see maybe a two gamer or something like that.....whatever happened he put himself in a bad place though I hate to see that
Since I am no longer a student there ('05) what has been going on?? You make it sound like this is not the only negative thing to happen in the past months???? Let me tell you something man when I went to school it was no joke to see the basketball team banging different girls every night and drinking and smoking pot every night......It actually was incredulous to see these guys getting fin plowed the night before a game and then go play hard.....where are all the drug tests....this is I think a perfect example why not only should they be tested every week but they should also get paid (instead of a scholarship) and boom you get fired not suspended not a loss of scholarship (big whoopie they now can go get state money to go to school) no I mean good riddance kicked out of school no aid no paycheck nothing good bye and your cant play ever again in tthe ncaa which would be the employer (the univ would be like the subcontractor) what you all think???
Guys unfortunately Chatt probably is done for awhile...this is his second arrest on campus....He is royally screwed....He was arrested back on 30 June on a traffic violation warrant for failure to produce valid insurance and license while he was at Wabash Valley College....Sounds like he was an idiot and went and tried to get his car out of the impound lot lol what a ding dong boy oh boy he was promising too.....cornelius stop acting like your brother grow up and play ball get your degree get a life man stop stop stop
I don't know if the above offense would cause worry. 1 in 7 drivers are uninsured. I don'y know if that constitutes worry. Thats really his fault. There are tons of people who are caught like him. Look in our siue police records. Now on the other hand, a physical altercation is much more serious. It was on school property too. I am confused how you got that he went and tried to get his car out of the impound lot. He just failed to make it to court and verify his drivers license and or insurance. Thats all. In the scheme of things, it happens quite often in this world. Should that even be looked at as being negative for the bball team? NO! Will this domestic battery be? Yes! I suspect something will happen even though they declined to press charges. I expect a 1 game suspension. That is all that we can afford. Any more and it would be fine with me to just toss him. Im not going to see a player sit out a season or multiple games for something that was dropped. Come on!
IF you look at the alestle and the police wire Alex it states that Chatt was arrested while trying to get his car out of the tow yard....I did not make that up got it straight from the Alestle......And really its not that big of a deal but honestly two arrests in a year is not good for him or the school.....And I am not trying to insult anyone but life catches up to and even every littel thing hurts you I guess I am more dissappointed that this happens period
Gosh dang. Forrester is going to make an example of him most likely. The best thing Forrester can do is tell him we start clean when the season starts. If you have any more troubles you will be going back to community college. Thats how I would approach this. You got to give the man a chance to start and play. Hopefully D1 ball will settle him down a little. I believe hes gonna be less motivated to commit crimes once he realizes that this is a once in a lifetime chance. You here Alan? Whats your take?
I am not going to speculate until I hear more information. The Alestle says "aggravated domestic battery" as does the police brief, which is verbatim. I have seen players at bars, but they seem to be behaving themselves to a point. Not going to say anything that could be considered libelous until I hear more information. This is disturbing news though.
I was not trying to lible anyone.....just saw it with my own two eyes when I went there....I am not saying everyone has to be saints but because they are more in the public eye than say Jim the regular old college student athletes have to have more judgement especially those on a full ride scholarship.......I would say that the domestic charge was probably a big misunderstanding everyone has arguments........But my point about this is his second arrest in six months is very true thats all I was trying to say if you look up cornelius chatt arrested I found the Alestle brief from June that he was arrested on a warrant for an old ticket......It was just boneheaded that he probably forgot to pay or something like that.....my point is I hate to see this happene anywhere especially at SIUe......He just needs to get out of the "thug" life and be a student and a basketball player thats it.....
Ok the email thing on this site sucks.....that needs to be changed once and for all.....I tried 5 times to enter the "secret code" and it said the code was wrong every time BS......Anyways have you notice guys that the Cougs have a new member.....Guys name is Reggie REed and he put up halacious numbers at Rend Lake.....is this the walk on guy because if it is HOLY COW what a walk on LOL 12 pts and 6 assists a game or does this signify a probably redshirt season for some guys.....Anyways let me know Andrew
This Reggie Reed guy looks like a joke. What the hell is forrester thinking. There is no reason to add to the roster with a 5'9" pg. Come on. He plays in a shitty league/division. If we are going to add non talent, we might as well look for height. If anyone can find a video of this kid actually playing, please post a link. From what I see, hes gonna be terrrrrrrrrible. Alan, was this guy at the tryouts? Any comments on your side?
I just watched one of Reggie Reed's game. See below link.

I would say he's absolutely terrible. Does not play defense, jump, or even look like he's awake. I don't see speed or even good passing. He passes weak and he rarely plays defense. How the hell did this kid even play at Rend Lake. What the hell was Forrester thinking. We got a glorified Freshmen high-school b-ball player. WTF.
Whoa Alex.....tell us how you really feel brother........I do not know if I would go as far as saying he is terrible or awful.......He put up numbers at JC so there must be something he did right (he may have had a bad night you never know there were nights when I got pissed at Mark Yelovich for looking a lil sleepy)......And UGH! you said a shitty league shitty divsion let me tell you Alex the GRAC is one of the top JC divisions in the country SWIC is consistently in the top as well as the Wabash Valley Southeatern Illinois and John Logan.......So i totally disagree with you.....if this guy is indeed a walkon then I think it is a decent pickup (at least it isnt some kid who never played)
The guy isn't going to get minutes anyways...the guy tried out for the team and made it as a walkon. How many walk-ons get playing time in Division I? He won't see the court often, and I'm sure he'll work in practice. Let's not kill him or Forrester over this yet, the roster is established as far as who will get playing time, so its not a gamble at all.
I'll try and fix the e-mail link.
The contact form works, it is case-sensitive, I just tested it so that may be where your issue is.
