Cahokia's Darius Austin has SIUE offer

@TheRecruitScoop reports Darius Austin, a 2014 recruit from Cahokia High School has gotten offered by SIUE.

Consider this a long-shot if you must, but it takes some balls to offer a kid this good and if he wants to stay local, well all the better. Austin is a very talented 6'5 shooting guard.

Here is what has been reported by Illinois Prep Bullseye:

Darius Austin, the 6'6 2014 wing forward from Cahokia High School in Cahokia, IL has received a scholarship offer courtesy of Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville and head coach Lennox Forrester.  The offer was confirmed by Dana Morgan, the coach of Austin's Southwest Illinois Jets traveling team.  It represents Austin's second D1 offer to date, with the first being extended by St. Louis University.
In addition to the offers from the Cougars and Billikens, Austin has drawn substantial interest from several other D1 programs.  Austin attended Elite Camps at both Purdue and Butler over the summer and has also taken multiple unofficial visits to Missouri and Illinois.  Another Big Ten school that has shown considerable attention is Ohio State and Austin is set to visit the Columbus campus on October 29.  Austin has also planned on taking upcoming visits to Xavier and DePaul.
Austin is an athletic wing who unquestionably ranks among the top 10 prospects in Illinois from the 2014 class.  He has outstanding ballhandling and passing skills, is able to consistently power his way to the basket and has an excellent feel for the game.

Getting back to SIU-Edwardsville, under the direction of Forrester and assistant coach Deryl Cunningham, who played high school basketball at St. Joseph High School in Westchester, IL and has strong connections throughout the Land Of Lincoln, the Cougars are making it known that they will be a recruiting presence in Illinois.  In addition to Austin, the Cougars have offered scholarships in the 2013 class to 6'3 guard A.J. Riley from Manual High School in Peoria, IL; 6'3 guard Lance Whitaker from Bartlett High School in Bartlett, IL and 6'8 forward Anthony Patty from St. Joseph.
So, coach Cunningham is really helping out the recruiting side of things thus far. Austin has offers from Illinois, Purdue, DePaul, Butler, SLU, SIUE, UIC, Tennessee, Ohio St, Michigan, Xavier, Bradley, OU, Marquette & Mizzou.

Maybe we should start a facebook campaign to bring him in.
