Ryan Rosburg

Here is a 2012 recruiting update, and a little bit of wishful thinking.

Rivals.com confirms the Cougars have an offer to 2012 power forward Ryan Rosburg.

Rosburg is a 6'10 240 pound power forward from Chesterfield, Mo. And plays on the Gateway Basketball Club AAU team.

Rosburg has offers from SIU Carbondale and Missouri State, and is also being recruited by Tennessee and Missouri. He has power conference potential and is a big body to guard in the paint, just what the Cougars need.

He would be a Cougar in their first year of NCAA tournament eligibility, so the stigma of playing as an Independent is gone with the 2012 recruiting class, making it possibly the most important one in program history.

PowerMizzou has this to say about Rosburg.

"I'd say I'm pretty strong in the post, but I also like to get out in transition and get easy dunks and lay-ups," said the St. Louis senior-to-be.

Now, college coaches are starting to take notice. Rosburg lists offers from Missouri State, Southern Illinois, and Southern Illinois-Edwardsville. However, the Marquette High (MO) product says more offers could come soon.

"Supposedly a Tennessee offer is on its way now that coach [Cuonzo] Martin and the new staff is there," Rosburg said. "I've been hearing from Mizzou a lot lately too."

Rosburg says Missouri's interest has picked up since coach Frank Haith took over, although he admits he is unfamiliar with the Tigers.

"I don't know a lot about Mizzou to be honest," Rosburg said. "I haven't even heard from them personally, but through my coaches and other people I've heard they have interest in me."

Rosburg, who was very active in his team's press at the Jayhawk Invitational, says he likes to play up-tempo and fast-paced. But don't expect his recruitment to go that way.

"I'm open right now," he said. "I'm not ready to narrow it down or anything. I want to get a look at different schools. Facilities and a school's reputation are important to me."

Rosburg says this summer he'll be working to become better and more aggressive on defense. If he does that, look for college coaches to continue to become more aggressive recruiting him.

Rosburg averaged 14.6 points, 7.4 rebounds and 2.8 blocks while shooting 57 percent from the field.

We should start a Twitter campaign or something.
