APR scores out

No need to keep freaking out about postseason bans or whatever the penalties may be, because SIUE did quite well on the 2009-2010 NCAA Academic Progress report according to numbers released by the NCAA yesterday.

Most importantly, men's basketball got their  act together in the classroom and with retention as well.

The Cougars turned in a perfect 1,000 on the APR after a 906 last season, which could have brought penalties including postseason bans if it kept up for four years. 906 doesn't sound too bad, but it is very very bad.

The two-year aggregate on the men's basketball team is now 956. Still, not great, ranking them in the 50th-60th percentile in their sport. Among all sports, it's in the 20th-30th percentile. Just goes to show college basketball players are by far not the smartest student athletes.

The rest of SIUE's APR results can be seen here.
